Nailing the Message from Lung Cancer Foundation of America

The Bonnie J. Addario Lung Cancer Foundation applauds Lori Monroe and LCFA for their extraordinary work in bringing much-needed attention to our common cause.

BREATHE LIFE CAMPAIGN: This spring, LCFA is honored to be joining forces with OPI, the well-known nail polish company to introduce a new nail polish called Breathe Life. OPI created Breathe Life especially for LCFA, in order to raise awareness of the difficult fight against Lung Cancer. Not only will OPI be distributing Breathe Life to thousands of its customers nationwide, but the company made a generous donation to LCFA, too.

Please, ask your favorite salons in your area to hold SALON DAYS to bring awareness to Lung Cancer. This can be accomplished in a number of ways. Some call to action ideas:
1) Salons can advertise LUNG CANCER SALON DAYS and display the OPI Lung Cancer display case with the BREATHE LIFE nail lacquer. The displays from OPI brings attention to the disparities surrounding Lung Cancer.
2) Salons can agree to give a percentage to sales from customers who use the BREATHE LIFE color with their manicure to Lung Cancer Foundation of America

3) Salons can agree to ask customers if they would like to donate $1.00 extra to Lung Cancer research with each purchase of a bottle of BREATHE LIFE to the Lung Cancer Foundation of America.
4) Salons can offer manicures and/or pedicures for lung cancer patients at 50% off when using the BREATHE LIFE nail lacquer, asking for a donation to be made to the Lung Cancer Foundation of America.

About the Lung Cancer Foundation of America A couple of years ago, two Lung Cancer survivors (Lori Monroe and David Sturges) and a Lung Cancer widow (Kim Norris) discovered that even though Lung Cancer killed more Americans each year than the next six cancers combined, the vast majority of funding for Lung Cancer was going to prevention. Not detection. Not treatment. And not a cure. Together, Lori, David and Kim spoke with America’s top Lung Cancer researchers, members of Congress, the National Cancer Institute (NCI), and other cancer advocacy groups. After careful study they decided to form a new organization, committed to raising money to support Lung Cancer research.

LCFA’s goal is simple: to provide the necessary and critical funding for creative and leading edge Lung Cancer research programs to help find early detection, treatment, and ultimately a cure for this deadly disease. LCFA is a national organization, and raises money throughout the United States, often from the private sector.

At the same time, Lori, David and Kim and their colleagues at LCFA were thrilled to learn that there are now a number of other organizations also fighting Lung Cancer. As far as LCFA is concerned, these other groups are not competitors, but sister organizations, all joined in a battle against the same enemy. LCFA is flattered and very grateful that so many other Lung Cancer organizations are supporting the Breathe Life campaign, and posting the information on their websites and to their own supporters.
